Read moreOn a bluebird late summer day at Douthat State Park, the Blue Train women represented the club in fine fashion with podium finishes in the Odyssey Trail Marathon and 40 miler. Sophie Speidel and Stephanie Wilson went 2-3 in the 40 miler, and Gaby Gorman set the female course record in the marathon with a time of 4:11.
Read moreThere were a number of big stories at this year’s running of The Ring in the Massanutten Mountains, held as per tradition on Labor Day weekend. The course has never been tougher, with the runners encountering not just the usual rocks, but also heat, humidity, spider webs, flying and biting insects, and overgrowth in abundance from this wet summer. It was a fair challenge for the 43 starters, a challenge that only 47% were able to complete this year.
Congratulations to Danny Mowers, who for the second year in a row ran away from the rest of a strong field with an overall win at The Ring. This year Danny finished in a time of 16:03, which was very impressive under the conditions.
