2013 MMT women’s champ Robin Watkins finished the USA Ultra Double Ironman triathlon (” Double Anvil Ironman” in Tri-speak) at rainy Lake Anna State Park on Saturday in 28:51.

The father-son duo of Jeff and Chris Holdaway finished the Wasatch Front 100 last weekend in 34:46. About ten minutes later, in 34:55, Matt Baker also finished.

2013 Women’s Half Marathon

More than 200 women finished the 21^st annual VHTRC Women’s Half Marathon, enjoying nearly perfect early Fall weather. Finishing in 1:33:33, Martha Nelson defended her title and beat her old course record by more than four minutes.

VHTRC Women Dominate Odyssey Races

Race report

On a bluebird late summer day at Douthat State Park, the Blue Train women represented the club in fine fashion with podium finishes in the Odyssey Trail Marathon and 40 miler. Sophie Speidel and Stephanie Wilson went 2-3 in the 40 miler, and Gaby Gorman set the female course record in the marathon with a time of 4:11.

Carnage at The Ring

There were a number of big stories at this year’s running of The Ring in the Massanutten Mountains, held as per tradition on Labor Day weekend. The course has never been tougher, with the runners encountering not just the usual rocks, but also heat, humidity, spider webs, flying and biting insects, and overgrowth in abundance from this wet summer. It was a fair challenge for the 43 starters, a challenge that only 47% were able to complete this year.

Congratulations to Danny Mowers, who for the second year in a row ran away from the rest of a strong field with an overall win at The Ring.  This year Danny finished in a time of 16:03, which was very impressive under the conditions.

Martha Nelson wins St. Paul Urban Trail Marathon… Outright

VHTRC member and Women’s Half Marathon defending champion, Martha Nelson, won the St. Paul Urban Trail Marathon last weekend in Minnesota in a time of 3:07:35.
