The VHTRC led three work trips in June, clearing trails in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. Over three days, 18 volunteers contributed 153 hours of work.
We’re looking for a new RD for the club’s 100-miler. Longtime director Kevin Sayers will retire after the 2022 race.
Due to the continuing public health crisis surrounding the COVID pandemic, the VHTRC will not conduct our usual races in spring 2021. BRR is postponed and MMT is canceled.
2020 was rough. If you were a member of the VHTRC as of March 1, 2020, your membership has been extended by one year free of charge.
The 2021 race is canceled but, if there is sufficient interest, we may have a virtual event on the weekend of February 27–28 where runners can run the course on their own.
There are no awards or party for 2020, but that’s not stopping us from celebrating some amazing accomplishments in an otherwise difficult year. Submit your photos and memories by January 10 for our slideshow in February.
Redeye is a low-key event this year. MMT #1 and Waterfall will go on with tweaks, as will Hashawha Hills. The Awards Party is canceled.

Today, nine club members and Ed’s friends installed a bench in Ed Cacciapaglia’s memory in the Do Loop.
Over the past two weekends, three different crews from the VHTRC put in 197 hours of volunteer work in improving the Massanutten Trail in Duncan Hollow and on Short Mountain.
