Our running correspondent, John Calabrese, took a week off from racing on trails to race around a track. It went better than anticipated, as John came away from his loops around the 400 meter oval outside of Philly having not only covered over 100 miles in 24 hours, but also with the overall win! The JIM - Jarmans Invitational Marathon

While it is not a “trail race,” the Jarmans Invitational Marathon (or the JIM) is in the mountains (on the edge of Shenandoah National Park near Crozet in western Albemarle County), the course is primarily dirt road, and just about everyone has a beer at the finish.
