The JIM - Jarmans Invitational Marathon

While it is not a “trail race,” the Jarmans Invitational Marathon (or the JIM) is in the mountains (on the edge of Shenandoah National Park near Crozet in western Albemarle County), the course is primarily dirt road, and just about everyone has a beer at the finish. So it very much has a VHTRC vibe to it. John Calabrese reports on the 2023 race.

2023 Massanutten Trail Work Party

The week before MMT, 22 volunteers from the VHTRC were busy preparing the Massanutten trails by clearing more than 23 miles of trail, removing dozens of trees, and contributed 164 hours of labor to our public lands. After the work party, several volunteers attended the Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp Sun Pavilion Grand Opening, which the VHTRC also had a hand in making possible.

Hell and Back at the NJ Devil 100 Miler

Lauren Gabler Masterson, co-RD of the fall PB&J events and co-Captain of the pivotal Bull Run Run aid station at Fountainhead, has overcome bone cancer to not only return to running and racing, but to nail a strong finish this spring at the New Jersey Devil 100 miler. Lauren was 3rd female, finishing 28th overall out of 169 starters (89 finishers). She has shared her story here.
