Mitchell soars at Skyrunner race

Birgit Mitchell finished as 4th woman at the Andorra Ultra Trail Mític 112 km race in a bit under 32 hours, on July 11-13, 2014. The race is on the Spanish and Andorra 2014 Ultra Skyrunner Series calendar.

The course traces around the entire Principality of Andorra on the borders of Spain and France, including a visit to its highest point, Comapedrosa, at an altitude of 9,593 feet. The race includes almost 32,000 feet of elevation gain and loss.

Birgit says “I had no major mental or physical issues and feel fine overall. During the second night, I was dreaming while walking up a mountain: THAT was an interesting experience.” She adds that although the terrain was very technical and difficult, the landscape was amazing and breathtaking, making everything worth it.
