Gray Completes the Peak Races 200 Mile Ultra
Gilbert Gray completed the 200 mile distance of the Peak Races Ultras in Pittsfield, Vermont, from May 29th to June 1st, 2014, in 77 hours and 20 minutes. He said he probably had about 3 hours of sleep for the duration of the run.
The course for the 200 mile distance was 20 repeats of a rugged 10 mile loop in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Each loop had a cumulative climb of 2,400 vertical feet, so 200 milers faced 48,000 feet of elevation change. There was a cut-off of 82 hours. There were 12 starters and only 5 finishers of the 200 mile distance.
After the race, Gilbert reports that his legs feel fine, he had a great time, and should be ready to run the Bryce 100 miler, in two weeks, on June 14.
