Meeting held by video conference.
Called to order: 8:05 pm
Adjourned: 8:38 pm
Board members present: Tracy Dahl, Jon Jester, Keith Knipling, Chelsea Smith, Will Weidman
Old business
Storage unit
Last week Keith called Public Storage, seeking a reduced rental fee (it has risen from $127 to $187 over the last 18 months). They were amenable to lowering our rate but, upon investigation, we are still paying below the $243 current market rate for our size unit (10x15’). So, despite the rate increases, we are unlikely to find a better deal at Public Storage or anywhere else.
New business
Minutes from March 14 meeting
Jon motioned and Chelsea seconded to approve the minutes from the March 14 meeting. The board unanimously approved the minutes.
Past and upcoming events
MMT #3 was on March 26 and Chocolate Bunny will be on April 16. For Holy Cowan’s Gap on May 29, Sheila and Brett are requesting an extra $100 to rent a vehicle. Tracy motioned that we amend the budget for HCG to $700. Will seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.
Front Royal Earth Day Celebration on April 23
The VHTRC has been invited to participate in a free expo in celebration of Earth Day in Front Royal. None of the Board members is available to participate in this but agreed to engage some local club members to see if anyone is interested in representing the club.
Recycling gel wrappers at Bull Run Run
Tracy will start a new initiative at Bull Run to recycle energy gel wrappers through TerraCycle. TerraCycle is a free service that takes hard-to-recycle materials. Tracy has found some suitable and affordable collapsible bag holders at Harbor Freight that can be used as portable recycle bins and will purchase a few of them.
Submitted by Keith Knipling.
