New business
This meeting had two aspects. The first involved the Women’s Half Marathon. There were two decisions about the event, both of which had been proposed by the race director.
- It was decided that the age limit for the event would be 18 with one exception: that a runner may enter if she is at least 16 years old on race day if she is entered along with her mother in the mother/daughter competition, with appropriate procedures for guardian’s signature.
- It was agreed that we need to rent portable toilets for the event. The Board voted to go ahead and authorize the RD to rent them, and to approve raising the entry fee from $35 to $40 to cover those costs. The RD will apply entry fees not used for this purpose to additional “swag” for the runners.
The second item on the agenda was a background discussion of the state of the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100. This was a wide ranging discussion that made no conclusion about any aspect of the event. It did, however, disclose that a majority of the Board felt that we should have a new race director. It was decided to schedule a meeting of the Board to discuss the matter with Stan Duobinis.
