Entry for 2026 is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a maximum capacity of 240 runners total for both the half-marathon and the 10k.

The minimum age to participate in either distance event is 12. Girls ages 12 to 16 must be accompanied on the entire course by an entrant over 21. Runners 16 and older may run alone. Exceptions to this policy are at the race director’s discretion.

How You Pay

All registration is online via RunReg. You are not required to set up an account; you can check out as a guest.

Transfers / Changing Race Distances

Entry is not transferable to other runners. You may change the distance you are running via RunReg through September 7.

Refunds

The Virginia Happy Trails Running Club is a nonprofit organization and we don’t want to take money from you if you’re not getting something from us. We are pleased to offer full refunds (minus RunReg transaction fees) if you can’t run, but note that the deadline to withdraw and get a refund is August 18. Please do not ask for a refund after August 18. Race supplies must be ordered in advance and we cannot accommodate late requests for refunds — the money has been spent.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Policy

If you need to withdraw from the race after the refund deadline because of pregnancy, no worries. You are eligible for a full refund, minus RunReg transaction fees. Please contact the race director.
