Terrapin Mountain 50K
The VHTRC made a strong showing at the Terrapin Mountain 50K on what may have been the best running-weather day we’ve seen yet in this fickle spring. Holly Bugin won the women’s race in 5:17:21, finishing 27th overall in the field. The first VHTRC man to cross the line was Ryan Paavola, who took 4th overall with a time of 4:31:04.
Apart from a little bit of snow and mud at the higher elevations, the course conditions were much more favorable than at Holiday Lake 50K++ a few weeks ago, with many finishers posting faster times at Terrapin than they did at Holiday Lake despite the dramatic difference in elevation gain at Terrapin.
A number of other VHTRC members turned out for the race, and several did well in the field, among them Matt Bugin, who also cracked the top 10, finishing 8th overall with a time of 4:48:56.
