Short Mountain trail work

Last Thursday, Brett Martin, Tom McNulty, and Sheila Vibert spent the day clearing the Massanutten Trail over Short Mountain. They cleared the trail of encroaching growth and removed several blowdowns with hand saws. There are about half a dozen trees that require chainsaws and the southern half of the trail could use some weedwacking but, as Tom reports, “overall, the trail is in good shape and 90% of it is great hiking/running trail.”

The VHTRC is the official overseer of the Massanutten Trail over Short Mountain, from Moreland Gap to Edinburg Gap. Thanks to Brett, Tom, and Sheila for stepping up and tackling some long overdue work! Tom plans to come back with a chainsaw and clear the remaining trees.
