Grindstone 2017
Chris Roberts was the first VHTRC finisher at the 2017 Grindstone 100 miler, cruising in to a 5th place finish, in a time of 20:02. Kathleen Cusick was the first female finisher and 22nd overall - her time was just under 23 hours.
A number of other club members had good results at this year’s race, held in western Virginia over the weekend of October 6-8. The top three women were all club members - 2nd place Megan Alvarado notched her 5th Grindstone finish, coming in 6 minutes behind Kathleen. And in 3rd, running in her debut at the distance, was Sheila Veibert. Sheila’s time was 24:53.
Tony Escobar, RD for the holiday classic that is the Boyer’s Furnace 40 Miler, had the honor of finishing DFL. No one got their money’s worth to the extent that Tony did, getting it done in a time of 37:49:47 - but getting it done!
Congratulations again to ALL the particpants!
