Blue Train Rolls At Georgia Death Race
Bethany’s time of 14:32 was the third fastest run by a female at the event. The GDR, a “Golden Ticket” race (which means the top 2 male and female finishers were given an automatic entry to the 2016 Western States 100) is a 66-mile run from Vogel State Park to Amicalola State Park in northern Georgia with over 14,000 feet of climb. A large contingent of VHTRC runners finished, including Jaret Seiberg, Bob Gaylord, Katie Keier, Mario Raymond, Nicklaus Combs, and Jared Byrd. Bethany’s take: “This was the hardest race I’ve ever run — harder than MMT or Hellgate.” Jaret’s (paraphrased) take: “Imagine climbing Waterfall Mountain ( in the Massunuttens) or Hankey Mountain ( at TWOT) over and over again for the entire race.” Katie’s take: “It was gorgeous!”
