2023 Report

The 2023 PB&J trail run was greeted with perfect fall colors and near-perfect fall weather (if 80+ degrees in October is your thing). This year’s event quickly sold-out and had a record number of starters and finishers, with the 25k outpacing the 50k in only its second year.

With a 93% finish rate over the two distances, the hot weather was no competition for our field. We saw records fall, PRs created, and many new faces in the trail and ultra world.

25k results
The 25k saw stellar results in both the men’s and women’s runs. Travis Graham won the men’s run in 2:21:48, about one minute off the course record set by Rob Bartholomew in 2022. Sarah Grant followed closely in 2:22:36, both winning the women’s run and setting the women’s course record. Matthew Erb and Steven Hansen rounded out the men’s top 3 in 2:28:20 and 2:34:02, respectively. Lindsay Weaver finished second in the women’s run in a time of 2:34:00 followed by Carol Cohen in 2:49:30.

The 25k saw many first-time trail runrs and longest-distance achievements. It was a true pleasure watching these runners beam as they crossed the finish line.

50k results
Similar to the 25k, the 50k had impressive finishes as well. Hailing all the way from California, Nicholas Su won the men’s run in 5:13:00, followed by John Oplinger in 5:35:49 and Chris Pabian in 5:42:47. Stephanie Hill broke up the men’s 1-2-3 finish by winning the women’s run and placing second overall in a time of 5:15:43. Cayla Graham finished second in the women’s run with a time of 6:05:36 followed by Holly Chase in 6:09:31. We’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge Jen Cortesi, who won the unofficial costume contest (we promise we’ll bring it back next year!).

The 50k saw many first-time ultra runners, including two runners who registered for the 25k and switched to the 50k halfway through - when it’s a good day, you have to embrace it!

Volunteers: thank you, thank you, thank you
Volunteers are what make PB&J special and without them, the run couldn’t happen. From registration, to aid station support, to course sweeping, our volunteers are everywhere. Shoutout to everyone who generously donated their time on a beautiful fall day to make this event a success. Thank you.
