I am still relatively new, only having been a trail runner since 2019, but in that time have explored many of the trails in Shenandoah National Park, the Massanuttens, and other local trail systems. When I connected with VHTRC, I found my trail family. I have shared so many adventures with members, and am always trying to convince non-members to join, the bigger the trail family the better! I love to volunteer and participate at VHTRC events. How could you go wrong spending a day in the woods with all of your closest friends?

VHTRC is about supporting people to have fun running and exploring dirt trails. I think it’s important that we continue this support by encouraging new membership through our local events as well as creating some smaller events to ease in the new runners. Offering some shorter distance events may help encourage those that are uncertain about trail running, and especially ultra running. Start them small…and we’ll convince them to run MMT 100 one day! I look forward to being on the board and growing our trail community.
