At the 2015 edition of Holy Cowans Gap, Birgit Mitchell dominated the women’s field for the second year in a row, taking the title in an even 7 hours, 51 minutes ahead of second place, Suzie Spangler. In the men’s race, Brad Hinton and Jesse Johnson were within minutes of each other through the first 24 miles. A missed turn put Brad behind and a suffering Jesse rebounded at the 5th aid station to take the win in 5:41.
All runners and volunteers enjoyed the nearly perfect weather that kept the views on the ridges clear. After the race runners were treated to body work and massage by Ernesto Cesarez and a delicious BBQ prepared by Grill Sergeant, Dave Quivey. Special thanks to all of our volunteers including sweeps Jill Quivey and Paul Crickard and aid station captains Chris McIntosh, Katie Raezer Wolf and Claude Miracle.
Sue Malone and I hope that those runners (ahem….Team Gaylord….) that stopped at 15 miles will come back to see the second half of the course.
Please come join us on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend in 2016 for another fun weekend on the trails of south central Pennsylvania!
